Come early to pick your parking and be poised for the 5 pm quickdraw race!
FRIENDS DON'T LET FRIENDS MISS THE FUN--invite your friends!
Arrival- Artists bring their kits and set up studios midday by 3 ish. Volunteer students and art teachers help you load in. Set up your studio, add your lighting and informational items, and relax and center. If you want to chat to dispel nerves, art students would love to hear your story. Demo artist silent action works are on display for bidding to start at 4:30 as soon as guests arrive.
The live quickdraw hour: You are the star of the show! If you are racing the clock (paint/colored pencil/mixed media), you simply have a prepped / toned surface and a sketch and off you go to create a work for live auction. If you are a relaxed demo artist not racing the clock (Wood, jewelry, fiber, clay, glass, encaustic, stained glass, jewelry), just create and have good conversations as you meet your next collector. Demo artists bring a work offered in the silent auction.
Starter bell dings at 5, 5:30, 5:45.
Auction preview: At six, race-the-clock artists have a 15 minutes to frame, sign, certify, and transfer the fresh, finished work to an easel in the pavilion for the live auction. Faster is better. We need it asap to take photos for the auction slide show. Take a breath, break down your kits and take downstairs to the artists' room. Move into pavilion for the auction followed by dinner.
The auction: A lively auctioneer will lead your buyers into bidding, donors to give, and teachers to realize they will have funds to supply their student projects. Pose with your buyer, and enjoy your dinner and the satisfaction of helping inspire the next-gen of artists, and sharing a peek at your creative process.
The Funding After: A feel-good thing you did. Artists donate 50% (or more) of the art sale price, used to fund teacher supply lists and scholarships for seniors.
Thank you for keeping art ed's importance in the public eye and giving teachers a boost of support with strapped school budgets.
